Success stories
Did you know that Australia's leading female music artists Delta Goodrem and Natalie Gauci got their start at Songsalive!?
And U.S star Tyler Hilton started at our Los Angeles Songsalive! showcases.
We're not just any songwriters organization... we are the largest international non-profit organization in the world, and have nurtured, supported and promoted songwriters and composers from their budding stages to the WORLD STAGE.
I
love Songsalive and am glad I joined it. My first submission resulted
in a placement of the song "Just Another Day" in a movie. It's a
great way to meet other songwriters, make connections and get some
feedback on your songs and it was lovely to meet Gilli Moon (President) who is the
epitome of indie artist success. - CJ Borden
Anj Granieri, Songsalive! member, was recently signed to write for the Oprah Show! She writes "...On Friday night of this year's Rally, my life changed. I had the great honor of having a top executive from the company who provides music for the Oprah Winfrey Show come to see me perform at the open mic. After I performed "Bless America", he stood up and announced I would be signed to his company as their newest composer, and the crowd went nuts! I dropped into my seat with tears in my eyes, and felt gratitude swell in my heart. And I knew I would be working 10x harder now than ever before (so much for my old beliefs of being able to sit back once getting a deal). And you know what? It makes me so happy because I love to work now. I really do. Sincerely, Anj Granieri"
A recent appearance of SA members “The Potential Lunatics“ @ the October
Songsalive! OC Meeting with Rob Case provided them with a connection to perform at a “Thanks For Giving” event in Venice CA. The networking & connections made at Songsalive! Are helping this fresh new teenage band hone their chops & get the valuable guidance they need to
move forward with their music.
with two other members. Thanks Songsalive!"
- Happy RonHappy Ron's latest album "Terribly Happy" is definitely a Songsalive! success story. After joining Songsalive! in 2007, he then participated in 2 of our
Songcamps, where we put songwriters together in small groups to write a song in just over an hour. Such a success was his songwriting team, they wrote the title track to his new album, and has been recorded by an 18 piece big band, and released in 2008 to critical acclaim. (

"Thank you all SOOOOOOOOOOOO much, this is more support than I could imagine from people I don't even know. The event was a HUGE success!! We raised $600!!!!!!!!!! I am Very, Very, Very grateful. Everyone enjoyed the music so much, and there were plenty of Cd's sold too. That makes me happy. Performing Songsalive! songwriters: Deborah Crooks, Justin Winokur, Loren Davidson and me! Now you have a lot more people who know about Songsalive! All the road signs we made to guide people through the forest said "Songsalive ---->" so they saw the name 6 times before even arriving. That will stick in people's brains. And I said a few words to make sure lots of networking took place, advertising Songsalive, the Retreat, Jody's creativity workshops, and the bike ride of course. The guests were incredibly generous. OK, thanks once again - Songsalive! made this success possible. I appreciate it so much!"

“When I first attended a Songsalive! workshop I had a few notebooks full of songs I had written over the past 15 years, many of which no one had ever heard. I wasn’t doing anything with my music except singing nursery rhymes to my son. Only a few months later I have recorded my first CD “Angels in the Mud” which is receiving radio airplay across Australia, had offers from two different publishers for one of my songs and reached the semi finals of the UK songwriting competition. The opportunities for collaboration and networking through Songsalive! have really accelerated my music career.”
- Jo Young, Songsalive! member, Byron Bay NSW Australia
"Songsalive! has been the most helpful songwriter organization I've belonged to. It's given me important performing opportunities, while its daily electronic information is invaluable. I've profited from a few key opportunities that Songsalive! has informed me about. I also performed at the Songsalive! Expo where I made some good songwriting and performing contacts that I continue to benefit from today. Simply put, I'm a grateful Songsalive! member. "

Kaliyuga - Justin Connor
“The track comes from a Songsalive compilation and the artist appears to be Justin Connor. It starts off atmospherically and then commences with a piano riff and vocals reminiscent of David Bridie. It then powers up with strong vocals and an almost "Coldplay" feel. Great use of dynamics and atmosphere. My only criticism is that the preamble ambient noise perhaps goes too long. At 48 seconds before the song starts its possible listeners won't stay long enough to hear how good this really is. Great work. ”
U Baby - Serelle
“Wow, this girl is so powerful, great rhythm guitarist and fantastic strong vocals. Her lyrics are really different. It's a love song but really aggressive and honest. I like that style a lot. It's not soppy it's real. She's great! What a talented Australian artist!"

Australia: Songsalive has had, in the past, a regular forum/workshop, held in the APRA offices, which allows songwriters to receive feedback on their material and learn about the industry in general. Two supportive key figures, Phil Tripp and Neil Wilson (Shock Publishing/Hello Mr Wilson), have attended these forums. Phil Tripp comments, "Gilli Moon has taken the initiative and has the ambition to set this up. The industry should take it seriously. It's a great idea and deserves industry support". Being one of the more active publishers seeking new talent, Neil Wilson's made the effort to attend a workshop and commented, "Anything that encourages Songwriters to perceiver with their ability, is a good thing. I'll continue to support things like Songsalive! and urge others in the industry to do so".
